Continuing to explore the relationship between people and animals, I looked to my non-human counterparts for insights about my own behaviors around motherhood and compulsive eating.  Asking: Is motherhood an irresistible urge to behave in a certain way?   A conscious wish?  Is hatching an egg a desire or a compulsion? Is motherhood desired or is the desire a compulsion that cannot be mitigated easily? Is the act of eating a response to the presence of food or the presence of hunger? What if you had to rely on someone else to feed you? Do you live in a culture based on the endless celebration of consumption? Do you need to keep consuming?
